Why Train With PSI

Three (3) Students Per Course

Psy•che•del•ic therapy is an art form that can’t be learned on an 80 person Zoom call or through a class room lecture. The core of the PSI Apprentice training is a highly experiential container with only 3 students. The depth of the experiential learning process means that PSI trainings are always conducted in-person and require a high degree of individual holding and attunement.

A fully Developed Psychotherapy Modality

The PSI training is not a sitter school, nor is it an intro to psy•che•del•ics course, but a comprehensive, advanced somatic trauma training designed for altered state of consciousness. The model has a particular focus on autonomic nervous system responses, dissociation and relational transference dynamics that are almost always operative in the psy•che•del•ic session. Transformation in the PSIP model is a bottom-up, psychobiological (I.e primary consciousness) process that takes place mostly during the medicine session in contrast to integration models which rely on top down, talk therapy after the fact for benefit.

Learning From The Inside Out

All PSI students learn by taking a deep dive into their own unconscious material in a closely held, highly attuned container. It is not possible to guide client down a path you have not taken yourself. Even though most of our students are professionals who have been practicing for many years and are well processed at a talk therapy, insight level, they will often go directly to unresolved, early childhood, complex relational wounding during their experiential training sessions. Students discover a very different, visceral solution to experiences they have had to manage, compartmentalize or otherwise dissociate from their entire lives.

Provide fully legal, effective psy•che•del•ic therapy in your practice today

PSIP is a modality developed specifically for the psy•chedelic state of consciousness. Our focus is on the therapeutic interventions, the relationship, and the self correcting homeostatic mechanisms of the body (I.e the autonomic nervous system) that become more accessible and more active during the medicine session. Fully legal and available substances such as cannabis and ketamine can be used in a PSIP session to provide meaningful, enduring results. You did not become a therapist to put band-aids on profound wounds, and now you don't have to. We can do so much more for our clients today.

Let's hear it from our students.

Request a Training Conversation

I am a licensed mental or health practitioner (or a student in these specialities)

As a general rule, we have a number of different criteria that we consider as important in a prospective student:

1) Training (traditional graduate school or certification in an alternative healing arts mental health modality)

2) Two years of clinical experience working with people in a mental health oriented context (private practice is acceptable)

3) Licensure or certification

4) Population served

5) Personal motivation to provide this work

Our primary concern is that students entering the training have a foundation in basic therapeutic skills and have clinical experience working with clients to address mental health concerns. We would prefer, for example, a student with a Gestalt or psychodynamic certification from an institute over a licensed individual who might not have clinical experience. The PSI course is an advanced psychotherapeutic training which can be expansive, engaging and challenging at both professional and personal levels.

Thank you for submitting your request for a training conversation! We will be in touch with you as soon as possible.
