Gwen Gordon, MA, SEP

Gwen helps people heal the kinds of wounds that formed before they had words for them.

An Advanced PSIP practitioner and Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, Gwen specializes in developmental and attachment trauma. Before becoming a therapist, she spent decades exploring how human beings learn, grow, and heal through play—building Muppets for Sesame Street, collaborating with the MIT Media Lab, teaching graduate students, and speaking internationally about play and transformation.

Her work is grounded in the belief that symptoms are often intelligent adaptations, and that healing happens not by fixing what's broken, but by bringing connection to what has been unbearably alone. Drawing on PSIP, Somatic Experiencing®, dreamwork, grief ritual, and decades of contemplative practice, she creates a deeply relational space where healing unfolds through attunement, curiosity, and trust in the body's innate wisdom.

Gwen's work is informed by training with Jeremy Taylor in dreamwork; Francis Weller, Sobonfu Somé, Malidoma Somé, and Martín Prechtel in grief ritual; and decades of practice in Buddhist contemplative traditions. She has never entirely recovered from her years studying play and still occasionally smuggles wonder, imagination, and well-timed laughter into the healing process.

Gwen lives in Marin County, California, where she works with individuals seeking deeper healing, greater aliveness, and a more intimate relationship with themselves, others, and the larger living world.
